Unit 14. Floors 1.
(email)
Re: platform framing project
Mr. Peterson,
I’d like to discuss the platform framing project. Your last email mentioned that you are waiting for joists and beams to be delivered. When they arrive, go ahead and build the support for the floor. As a reminder, the beams need to be exactly six meters long. The joists should be placed apart and parallel to each other to span the floor.
Before you get started, please ensure that the mudsills and joist connections are in place and attached firmly. As we discussed, the wood used in this project should be hem fir or spruce. These woods are a lot less expensive than oak. Also, ensure that the metal components of the trusses are approximately 20 cm in length. Once you’ve got the supports in place, go ahead and put in the subfloor. This will work as our diaphragm.
That’s all for now. - Jim Martin.
